90,000 apply for houses under MyHome plan

The National Housing Department has received about 90,000 applications to buy houses under the MyHome housing scheme.

Its deputy director-general (Deve­l­­o­pment) Rohani Omar said they had also received 98 applications from housing developers to build 108 projects involving 26,461 units since it was launched in April.

“The ministry has approved 29 developers involving 31 projects with about 10,000 housing units.

“Most of the applicants are from Selangor followed by Johor, Pe­nang, Sabah, Sarawak and Perak,” Rohani said after launching Seri An­­da­man Phase 1 MyHome project at Bandar Universiti here yesterday.

For Perak, the ministry received applications from 10 project deve­lopers involving 1,357 housing units.

Rohani said the applications of three companies had been approved for projects in Perak involving 247 housing units.

“Seri Andaman Phase 1 is the first project in Perak. The approval was for 186 single-storey terrace houses with a minimum area of 850 square feet to be built by Agro-Mod Indus­tries Sdn Bhd,” Rohani said.

MyHome scheme is one of the Government’s initiatives to enable buyers to receive subsidies of up to RM30,000 to buy selected homes at a low price. — Bernama
