Perbadanan Prima Malaysia (PR1MA), which is tasked to build affordable homes under the 1Malaysia Housing Programme, is sticking to its target to deliver 500,000 new housing units.
While no new time frame had been announced, PR1MA said in a statement yesterday it will meet the “delivery deadline collectively by consolidating its operation with the developers.”
It hopes to meet the target of getting 240,000 units approved for development by the end of the year.
In addressing the issue at PR1MA’s first townhall, chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Mutalib Alias said it believed that it could roll out the 500,000 homes via consolidated operations with developers.
“This townhall is an addition to one of our continuous efforts in engaging our partners towards a better working relationship.
“It is vital for us to provide this platform that encourages both our team and the developers to exchange ideas in overcoming challenges throughout the stages in ensuring timely delivery,” said Abdul Mutalib in a statement yesterday.
Mutalib urged partners to share monthly updates on their development status to provide a better understanding on the progressive developments towards building optimum homes.
Through this collaboration, he said PR1Ma has identified roadblocks and challenges within each project and measures to overcome them.
“We have called for more concerted action in accelerating the development rate across the projects,” he added.
Meanwhile, MCT Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Seri Tong Seech Wi said the townhall served as a profound platform for developers to engage with PR1MA on matters pertaining to projects. - By The Star
