20,000 affordable homes to be built in Putrajaya

The Federal Territories Ministry plans to build about 20,000 Federal Territories Affordable Housing (Rumawip) in Putrajaya.

Federal Territories Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Adnan Md Ikhsan said the ministry had to discuss with Putrajaya Holdings (PjH), owner of the land in Putrajaya, about land acquisition to proceed with the housing plan.

“We are discussing with PjH, and if they do not agree to sell us the land, we will have to find another way to achieve our target,” he said after launching the Enesta@Kepong Rumawip balloting session at Menara Wilayah in Putrajaya.

He added that the ministry had aimed to build 80,000 units of Rumawip in the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.

Of the number, only 29,154 units were launched in Kuala Lumpur since September. Another 66,408 units are still in planning stages.

Located along Jalan Kepong in Kuala Lumpur, Enesta@Kepong is developed by Thriven Global Berhad and Amona Group of Companies.

At 803sq ft, the three-bedroom, two-bathroom houses cost RM300,000 per unit.

A total of 229 buyers have drawn lots for Enesta@Kepong during the event.

Adnan said the initial focus in Putrajaya was to build more Perumahan Penjawat Awam 1 Malaysia (PPA1M) homes as the majority of residents there were civil servants.

He urged the developers to complete their projects as soon as possible.

“The sooner they finish the projects, the sooner the housebuyers can move into their own home,” he said. - BY FARAH FAZANNA ZULZAHA (StarProperty)
